Karen DeSoto represents Ten in Discrimination Suit. Nine of the plaintiffs are African-American and one of them Hispanic

According to a report on Nj.com,  The Rev. Horace Sheffield III, a Detroit civil rights leader with the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network plans to hold a public hearing next month to probe complaints of discrimination leveled by employees at City of Bayonne.

“He said he was also aware of a recent front-page story in The Jersey Journal that highlighted the cases of 10 current and former municipal workers who have filed discrimination lawsuits against the city.”

Karen DeSoto, the plaintiffs’ Bayonne-based attorney, was quote in the Jersey journal saying she believes her clients are victims of the city’s patronage mill, which rewards a tight-knit circle of friends, family members, and political associates.

“There is not one black or Hispanic supervisor in the Department of Public Works,” she said.
